Surprisingly enough Manaus has an annual opera festival in May. I went to see an orignal production of an opera about various legends of the Amazon region. It was a bit strange, but also very cool. My favorite parts were the dancers in complete head to toe spandex and the children's choir dressed like a bunch of little Indians.
